The R34 Skyline GT-R by Nissan has been available for quite some time, but it never made its way to the United States. This impressive supercar was introduced in 1998 and remained on the market until 2002; however, it was never officially imported or sold in the U.S. Nonetheless, that didn't stop people from fantasizing about owning one ever since its debut. At the time, most models were advertised with 276 horsepower and 289 lb-ft of torque, but reports indicated that the 1999 R34 Skyline actually produced around 330 horsepower, which was an extraordinary amount of power back then. To put it into perspective, the 1999 Corvette only offered 345 horsepower. The R34 Skyline was undeniably exceptional.

Why is the R34 Skyline Finally Coming to America?

Why is the R34 Skyline finally making its way to America? Previously, legal regulations permitted the importation of the model solely for exhibition purposes, but it was not lawful to import it for actual sale and on-road enjoyment. The model was deemed illegal due to its failure to comply with the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards outlined in the Imported Vehicle Safety Compliance Act of 1988.

This left numerous Nissan enthusiasts longing for the model for years. Fortunately, the car is now on the verge of gaining legal status through the "25-year rule." According to this rule, the model can be imported into the U.S. for purposes beyond mere display. However, there is an essential caveat to its legality. While it can be used as a drag or race car, driving it on American streets and highways remains prohibited.

Nevertheless, many people are delighted that they can finally acquire this model and take it to the racetrack for some excitement. The R34 Skyline continues to hold the same legendary status Nissan bestowed upon it, and those who can afford it will likely include it in their collection of racing vehicles. We are committed to ensuring that our customers gain access to this now-legal Nissan legend.
