The Dawn of a New Era, The Nissan Ariya Concept

Since its debut at the recent Tokyo Auto Show, the Nissan Ariya concept has created a buzz among Nissan owners. Although it still doesn't have an official name, the Ariya concept is set to become the second fully electric vehicle in the Nissan lineup. The staff at our dealership is excited about this new all-wheel-drive electric crossover as it incorporates striking visual lines along with a suite of award-winning driver-assistance technologies that will give you a new experience on the road.

Ariya Concept Features

While Nissan hasn't released all the details about the Ariya Concept, here is what we do know. It will incorporate Nissan's all-new semi-autonomous driving system called Pro-Pilot 2.0, which will combine navigated driving on the highway with hands-off single-lane driving capabilities. This system will allow drivers to remove their hands from the wheel in certain situations. Safety features are also expected to include automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, and lane-keeping assist and adaptive cruise control with a semi-autonomous driving mode. The driving range on a single charge could be as high as 300 miles, a significant increase from the Leaf's range of 226 miles.

The exterior of the Ariya Concept vehicle represents a distinct departure from the look of a traditional SUV body. It's designed with wide front fenders, thin LED headlights, and a shield area with the Nissan emblem that replaces the front grille. This sleek design makes the Ariya Concept look more like a sports car than an SUV.

Minimalistic and futuristic design continues on the inside as the dashboard continues the exterior's sleek look. Nissan has included a traditional Japanese Kumiko pattern on the inside door trims and footwells, while copper accents provide a warm look.

As you would expect, technology will be cutting edge. It will include what the manufacturer called door-to-door navigation, a feature that allows drivers to easily transfer directions on their smartphones to the vehicle's infotainment display. Other outstanding features include the Ariya Concept's ability to sync with your schedule. For example, you'll be able to pre-heat or pre-cool your vehicle's interior while you're on your way to it. You'll also be able to use your smartphone to park the Ariya Concept automatically through ProPilot's Remote Park feature.
